In line with
SafeWork NSW guidelines, we recommend the following ratios for low and high-risk workplaces.
Low risk workplaces (offices, libraries and most retail shops, workplaces with low exposure to hazards):
- one first aid officer for every 50 employees
Higher risk workplaces (those where employees may be exposed to hazards that could result in serious injury or illness that would require immediate medical treatment, which could include manufacturing plants, commercial kitchens, meatworks, motor vehicle and body panel workshops, medical research facilities, prisons and forestry operations):
- one first aid officer for every 25 employees
Remote high risk (All night convenient store and service station workers, long distance freight transport drivers):
- one first aid officer for every 10 employees
