What we service

Routine Inspection & Maintenance

  • Portable Fire Extinguishers
  • Fire Blankets
  • Fire Hose Reels

How often does a fire extinguisher need testing?

  • All portable and wheeled fire extinguishers need to be tested every 6 months.
  • Pressure testing and refills should be carried out at least once every 5 years.
  • Fire extinguisher service technicians schedule fire extinguisher testing in at fixed intervals. Current regulation is advising annual maintenance on all fire extinguishers.
  • A hydrostatic test is performed every 5 years. This is the case with all dry chemical Extinguishers. In rare instances, where the fire extinguisher is not made to be refilled, testing is not required.
  • Fire extinguisher testing is a common occurrence in responsible workplaces. In this situation, the employer is the one responsible for the testing of the Extinguisher. The employer is required to mandate a trained person to do the testing. However, fire Extinguishers also need to be tested in the following instances:
      • In the event of cylinder damage
      • In case of significant corrosion
      • In case of a fire in their vicinity
      • When the extinguisher is made from steel and it is filled with calcium chloride extinguishing agent
