Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring my own harness and height safety equipment to the course?

In most cases, the required height safety training equipment is provided for the course. This may include harnesses, lanyards and other equipment needed for practical training activities.

If you already use specific equipment at work, you can ask Optimum Training whether it is suitable to bring it along for discussion or inspection during the course.

Is working at heights training mandatory for construction and trade workers?

Working at heights training is often required for construction, trade and maintenance workers who may be exposed to fall risks. Employers have a duty to manage these risks and make sure workers are trained to complete height-related tasks safely.

The exact training requirements can depend on the type of work, site rules, employer policies and relevant safety regulations.

How long is my height safety certificate valid for?

A working at heights certificate may not have a fixed expiry date, but many employers and worksites require refresher training to keep workers current and compliant with site requirements.

As a general guide, refresher training is commonly completed every two years, or sooner if workplace procedures, equipment or safety standards change.

What are the physical requirements for completing a working at heights course?

Participants should be able to safely take part in practical activities, which may include fitting a harness, moving around training equipment and demonstrating basic height safety procedures.

If you have a medical condition, injury or mobility concern, contact Optimum Training before booking so the team can discuss course suitability and any reasonable adjustments.
