Why Fire Warden Training Isn't Just a Good Idea, It's the Law in Australia

Getting Fire Safety Right in Newcastle

Fire safety is not just about ticking a regulatory box – it's about keeping your team and business safe and sound. In Newcastle, where workplace safety is a top priority, fire safety protocols are a non-negotiable. Whether you're running a high-rise office building, a manufacturing plant, or a local shop front, having trained fire wardens in place is a no-brainer. And with fire breaking out in Australian workplaces all too often, getting it right is more critical than ever.

Our fire warden training courses are a cut above the rest. We offer both online and in-person training, all of which is designed to give your workplace the best chance of staying safe in an emergency. Our courses are developed in line with Australian Standards, including AS 3745-2010, so you know you're getting the highest level of certification.

Fire Warden Training: Not Just a Good Idea - It's the Law in Newcastle

Fire warden training is not just a good idea – it's a legal requirement in Newcastle, just like the rest of Australia. Under the AS 3745-2010 standard, businesses have to appoint fire wardens to make sure their workplace is safe in case of an emergency. And if you haven't got the right fire wardens in place, you could be facing some serious problems.

Fines, Liability and Insurance - The Risks of Not Getting Fire Safety Right:

  • Fines: If you're not meeting fire safety standards, you could be looking at some serious fines.
  • Legal Liabilities: In the event of a fire, you could be held responsible for not having fire safety measures in place.
  • Insurance Issues: Failing to train fire wardens properly could even invalidate your insurance in the event of an emergency.

How Many Fire Wardens Do You Need?

The general rule of thumb is that you need one fire warden for every 20 people on-site, but the right number for your workplace will depend on how big and how high-risk it is. In Newcastle, that means you need to assess your fire safety needs and appoint the right number of wardens to keep your team safe.

  • Staffing Up: One fire warden for every 20 employees, or based on specific workplace risks.
