Course Description

This course applies to workers in the construction industry. It covers fundamental WHS requirements necessary to undertake work tasks within any sector in the construction industry. It is now a mandatory requirement for all trainers who deliver the White Card Course (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) to hold this particular unit. (PLEASE NOTE: This is not a White Card course). Through video evidence, students are required to demonstrate the performance of work in a safe manner through awareness of risks and work requirements, and the planning and performance of safe work practices with concern for personal safety and the safety of others. You are also required to perform emergency first aid treatment of minor injuries. Certificates issued by Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.

The flexible format of the course means that you can log in as many times as required to complete the course - you do not need to complete the course all in one sitting. This course is Self Paced - It is expected students may complete the course within 8 hours (depending on experience levels)

Learning content is provided in an online format within the course. Assessment activities consist of simulated performance tasks, outlined below. Please note in order to successfully complete the performance tasks, you will be required to supply the following materials, tools, equipment (e.g. a ladder or drill, signage and barricades) and personal protective equipment (PPE) (incl. Hard Hat, Safety Goggles, Ear Muffs, High-Visibility Vest, Safety Gloves), and a first aid kit (for a minor burn, cut or an abrasion).

Your assessment will consist of:

1) Practical demonstrations:

  • Demonstrate the correct wearing and fitting of PPE (video upload)
  • Complete a verbal risk report (video upload)
  • Conduct a risk assessment, demonstrate safe work practices and the safe use of a tool or a piece of equipment (video uploads)
  • Demonstrate an emergency response and evacuation procedure (video upload)
  • Provide emergency first aid treatment for a minor injury (video upload)

2) Complete the following documentation:

  • Risk Assessment form
  • Take 5 document
  • Incident Report form

3) Theory assessment: multiple-choice and short-answer questions

A certificate will not be issued until all online work has been completed and an Assessor has conducted the final checks. Please allow a minimum of 3 business days for your assessor to complete the final checks, after which your statement of attainment will be issued.
